Reporting into Wolters Kluwer Clinical Effectiveness' Senior Director of DevOps, this new role will be critical in helping the organization reach its strategic product development goals. In collaboration with other technology leaders, this leader will ensure smooth execution and on-time delivery of all business-critical roadmap initiatives. We are looking for a talented, high-energy candidate to assist with organizing how we develop, test, and deploy our SaaS products.

This leader will drive our continuing transformation from monolithic product-based architecture to a microservices-based next generation containerized platform. This will be the foundation for a portfolio of our new solutions. Using deep experience with the SDLC we implement continuous improvement practices in order to achieve continuous delivery. Working closely with DevOps engineers and managers as well as individual scrum teams across the company, this role has a unique opportunity to improve conditions through specific targeted action.

  • Create appropriate communication for technical and business audiences that articulate DevOps efforts, status, progress and needs.

  • Work with DevOps and Engineering leadership to define, shape, and drive technical roadmap to completion. Oversee teams' growing adoption of Agile practices as they progress through Product Concept, estimation, and execution phases of projects. Develop product concepts, estimates, staffing requirements, and execution strategies for new and ongoing efforts.

  • Collaborate and build relationships with other Technology and Engineering leaders and teams to develop productive cross-team partnerships and to execute work efforts that require close collaboration among multiple teams. Encourage best practices and common tools.

  • Integrate the development of best practices, standards, procedures, and quality objectives including metrics for assessing progress.

  • Analysis of existing situations in order to improve conditions in a way that it can be shared with others to improve conditions.

  • Develop analytics, communication tools, and presentation materials to support exposure of DevOps accomplishments to senior management and across WK.

  • Define metrics, and implement the associated monitoring, to ensure the high performance and stability of our development, test, and production environments.

  • Using technical or scientific knowledge; develop models, engineering specifications, and backlogs to support development.

  • Contribute to definition of job-roles, recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees and contractors.

  • Coach and mentor individuals on the team to be focused on automation, customer service and overall effectiveness.


Provide assistance as needed to other teams in the areas where skills and experience are applicable. Other duties as assigned.


Education: Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent job experience. MBA helpful.

  • Partner with Sr. Director of DevOps to develop and implement strategy for the department. Able to describe this strategy to staff and partners.

  • Model, classify, organize and represent activities to support;

  • long-term and short-term operations and

  • management reporting

  • Organize and carry out events for strategic implementation, staff education and morale.

  • Identify and cultivate knowledge sources across CE that can help further DevOps objectives and efforts.

  • Be able to and be committed to absorbing/understanding/synthesizing all of DevOps across CE.

  • Assist in personnel evaluations, as appropriate.

  • 5+ years direct management of staff or equivalent.

  • Experience managing vendors and contractors

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications:

  • Basic understanding of software and database engineering practices. Able to describe how software flows through a development group and gets released to production.

  • Agile practices and philosophies

  • Program or project management and execution

  • Microsoft Office toolset (Word, Excel, Project, PPT, Visio, Access, etc)

  • Atlassian tool suite; Jira, Confluence

  • Business practices and protocols. Meeting organization and execution.
