Wolters Kluwer Senior Software Engineer (C#, .NET) in Waltham, Massachusetts

A Microsoft technology based platform, the UpToDate Editorial Platform utilizes a range of

technologies to deliver world class document editing and management capabilities to our content

editors.

Reporting into Wolters Kluwer UpToDate's Manager Software Engineering, this role is critical in

transforming a successful product into a platform supporting multiple product lines. The manager

is responsible for the management, mentoring, and quarterly performance appraisal of the team's

software developers. Additionally, the manager is responsible for working with other team leads

to ensure that the larger agile team works efficiently and accurately to meet product deliverables.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Manager Software Engineering, architect and other software engineers to develop and implement new web applications and API (including Microservices).

  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software.

  • Develop and assume ownership of multiple Editorial platform applications, including API design, implementation and documentation.

  • Work with application teams to determine requirements for Editorial platform.

  • Work closely with software test engineers to ensure high quality.

  • Plan and execute tasks within an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Follow and contribute to best practices and standards for coding.

  • Remain current with evolving industry trends and technologies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in web development working with Microsoft technology

stack (C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET CORE, WEB API, MVC, Entity Framework, ADO.NET,

Enterprise Library. MS SQL Server)

  • Experience with Single page web application, NodeJs, React, Redux, Angular2,

TypeScript, Bootstrap, WebPack, SASS , NPM, Dragula, CK Editor, Angular2 Material,

ng2-toastr

  • Experience with Web API, API design and REST principles.

  • Experience with GIT and Jira.

  • Experience with SOA or Microservices is desired.

  • Experience with relational databases required, familiarity with other database technologies

including NoSQL a plus.

  • Knowledge of Unix, Linux, PERL, Apache, Tomcat and Repliweb is a plus.

  • Knowledge of common design patterns, design principles and industry best practices.

  • Experience with unit and integration testing.

  • Strong collaboration skills and desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and listening), with ability

to build positive working relationships across multiple groups within the organization.

  • Ability to grasp an existing codebase and identify opportunities to improve.

  • Committed, engaged, self-motivated, decisive, adaptable, data driven, transparent and

objective.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: * Industry experience in the health care sector is a plus. * Technology Certifications is a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 0 -- 5%

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal office environment.
