The Application Architect (AA) will be a proactive, self-starter with strong experience and knowledge in designing & developing products. The AA is responsible for providing the leadership and direction in architecting, re-architecting the products aligned with business priorities. The role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping common customer business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions.
To be effective, the Application Architect must have experience on multiple hardware and software environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems.
The Application Architect will be capable of assessing existing product architecture, limitations and develop a targeted architecture with respect to the product roadmap. Create transition plan to migrate the product from as-is to to-be architecture. The Application Architect is also responsible for the governance and the architecture compliance during the development cycle.
When building the new products, Application Architect works with business stakeholders and product managers to understand the vision & the requirements, works with the Enterprise Architects, Cloud Architects. AA needs to design and create the development and customer facing software environments.
The Application Architect needs to be an avid promoter of the standards, utilize best practices, and mentor development teams on a regular basis. The Application Architect should be able to proactively identify the potential issues suggest the improvements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement highly scalable & highly available products on MS Azure.
Redesign / Re-Architect products using the modern architecture.
Create reusable architectural artifacts.
Guides software engineers in the implementation of selected designs and strategies.
In complex initiatives, act as the lead to coordinate the activities of different architects to arrive at the overall architecture solution.
Provide guidance and leadership & encourage best practices.
Participate in reviews of the project solution architecture by identifying opportunities and recommendations to optimize or enhance product delivery.
Help the Enterprise Architecture group in defining & Governing the standards.
Assist with detailed implementation planning, project planning and project coordination in conjunction with the project manager.
Translates complex functional, technical, and business requirements into architectural designs
Develops high-level application designs and directs detailed design work of developers
Develops proofs-of-concept and prototypes to validate and compare design alternatives
Develops reference architectures and coding samples
Performs cost/benefit and trade-off analyses of design alternatives
Minimum of 4 + years of application architect with customer-facing, large-scale, web-based applications
Minimum 5 + years of experience as an application developer implementing web applications
Experience working with IaaS and PaaS providers such as Azure and AWS.
Strong knowledge of XML, XSLT, and XPATH
Experience with designing, implementing, and tuning databases such as: MS-SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cosmos
Experience using security technologies, such as: Identity Server, SAML, JWT, Open ID Connect, and OAuth
Experience with middleware technologies such as Redis and RabbitMQ
Experience with web application hosting, deployment, and the management and optimization of the related IT infrastructures
Experience in developing cloud applications for Azure using both IaaS and PaaS offerings
Experience working within Scaled Agile Framework or large multi-site, Agile environments
Strong knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns. Microservices experience is a plus
Experience in ERP is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering
Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering is a plus
