Wolters Kluwer Principal Architect, Integrated Products /FHIR /CDS /EHR in Boston, Massachusetts
As a Solution Architect specializing in integrating products into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, you will be critical in delivering solutions that leverage UpToDate’s deep clinical decision support knowledge in clinicians’ workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including medical editors, informaticists, software engineers, implementation teams, and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate has significant experience building and integrating CDS functionality into hospital EHRs.

Responsibilities:
Architectural design : Design solutions in a manner that carefully considers the scalability, performance, resilience, availability, maintainability, security, deployment, testing, and monitoring needs.
Technical leadership : Provide technical leadership and guidance of development and implementation of integrated solutions. Be a force that enables the development teams to strive for overarching architectural design, devise best practices and patterns.
Solution Development : Collaborate with engineers to develop and implement CDS applications.
Software Testing : Work closely with software test engineers to develop deep and thorough test coverage.
Stakeholder Collaboration : Work closely with cross-functional teams, understanding their requirements and challenges, be the subject matter expert in your area.
Innovation and Research : Stay abreast of the latest changes in CDS and EHR integration landscapes, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Investigate, evaluate, and recommend technologies, tools, and frameworks that contribute to accelerating delivery of the product roadmap. Devise and implement proof-of-concept (POC) activities to guide technology decisions when appropriate. Balance upfront planning and encouraging emerging designs while executing initiatives in an Agile environment.
: Maintain comprehensive documentation of architecture, design decisions, and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.

Experience :
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
10+ years of development experience with 3+ years of experience at the Architect level
Experience designing and building solutions that are scalable, performant, resilient, observable, and secure.
Proven and demonstrable experience with clinical decision support using the FHIR standard (i.e. CDS Hooks Services, SMART on FHIR applications). Experience integrating with EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, or similar.
Familiarity with retrieving and using structured and unstructured data.
Familiarity with Clinical Query Language (CQL), Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) or similar a plus
Deep understanding of agile engineering practices (Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, SOLID, Refactoring, etc.)
Knowledge of software development best practices, patterns, and principles.
Application Program Interface (API) specification and development, including REST services.
Experience with Java, SpringBoot, Node.js, Javascript, RESTful APIs, databases.
Experience with architecting, building, and deploying solutions using Microservices Architectures (MSA).
Strong understanding of DevOps techniques and tools.
Experience working on distributed teams.
Proven track record to drive complex engineering initiatives to completion on time and on budget.
Ability to evaluate the short and long-term implications of technical choices with respect to SDLC best practices, user functionality, application performance, and the potential accumulation of technical debt.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform and Microsoft Azure a plus.
Compensation:
Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $176,600-$249,950
